It is often lamented that the church of the Lord Jesus is fractured, divided into many fragments, and that all effort ought to be exercised in order to bring all Christians together into one group. This would be an utter waste of time; not because such a goal is not laudable nor because it is unattainable, but because the goal has already been reached! ALL CHRISTIANS ARE UNITED! Note that it does not say, "There OUGHT TO BE one body..." or "We SHOULD seek TO BE one body..." but, "There IS one body." . " And this one body is in agreement in its hope and in its faith, for there IS (not "ought to be") one hope and one faith. So it is needless to bring together true believers, for it has already been done; and it is impossible to bring together people of different faiths, for they that are of different faith are not of the same body. The sad case that often exists is that true believers divide over issues which are not matters of the faith. By all means, let us exert every effort to bring down the foolish, fleshly walls that divide us; but we cannot, we must not, we DARE not tear down those walls that divide truth from error, and thus, believers from unbelievers. Often this dividing wall that defines the "one body" of believers will divide a household, a church, even spouses, parents, and siblings. But the dividing wall of truth must not be altered to pacify even our nearest kinsman or friend.
