We who know God in Christ, in His full atonement and quickening, converting grace and power, should be so very thankful for every comfort, enjoyment and blessing in this world below. Is it not wonderful that while we wait for our Lord from heaven and the consummation of our redemption, living in a world of peoples who are the enemies of our God, a world that follows the ways of self, sin and Satan, dwelling in a body that is rapidly deteriorating through the power of sin, that we should be spared from constant sickness and suffering, pain and misery?
The workings and end of sin is misery and death, yet Mercy and Grace bring us much joy and happiness even in our fallen, sinful bodies, even in this fallen, sinful world. Think of it, dear believers, if our God did not restrain that awful, murderous leprosy called sin, this world would be nothing but "weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth."
Every man and woman in the world has so much he or she should be thankful for, whether lost or saved, believer or unbeliever. But, oh believers, "brethren, beloved of the Lord," God has not only "delivered you from the wrath to come," but has spared you from so much deserved suffering and shame in this present life! And too, He has given you a "sure hope" of eternal glory in and through His Son. What a God! What a Saviour! What a Father! What a Friend! What purposed, effectual love and grace to His dear people! THANKSGIVING AND PRAISE BE UNTO OUR GOD FOR EVER!!!
