VOICE OF DISTINCTION
John 10:4

"They know his voice."–John 10:4

Experts say that every voice has a distinct sound; that every voice has sound wave patterns that are distinct from all others, much like finger prints. Well, the voice of the Lord Jesus Christ is clear and distinct throughout the Scriptures ... to those who know him.

Most folks read the Bible and see only Jewish history or lessons in morality. The child of God reads the scriptures and sees and hears the Son of God. Every book is a story of his person and work. He told his disciples, concerning the books of Moses, the psalms and the prophets, (that's the whole Old Testament!), "They are they which testify, of Me" (John 5:39; Luke 24:44). Just because some folks can't see Christ, nor hear Christ in the passage, doesn't mean he is not there. In fact, the Lord purposely hides himself from "the wise and prudent, and reveals (himself) to babes." One of the oldest books in the Bible, the book of Job, asks the question, "Can a man by searching find out God unto perfection?" No! In fact man can't find out God at all, unless God reveals himself to him. Like the sun, which is always shining and always in its place; the Son of God is always reigning and seated in the heavens. Though we are in darkness or a cloud obscures our view, nevertheless, the Word of God clearly reveals the Son of God, page after page.

The potsherds of this earth like to argue many things against the Son of God; the chief of which is, "He never said he was God." That is what the Russelites, Mormons and other cults say. But Christ did declare his deity, many, many times. Those who know him have heard him say it, for he has declared himself to them. Those who don't hear him don't know him, He said, "He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God" (John 8:47). Numerous times he declared Himself to be the I AM. "If ye believe not that I AM, ye shall die in your sins." Before Abraham was, I AM" (John 8:24,58). When those soldiers came to take Him in the garden, they heard the same Name Moses heard on Mt. Sinai... "I AM," and they fell backward in the presence of God.

The child of God can hear the voice of God in every word uttered by the Son of God. When they hear him say, "If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink" (John 7:3 7), it is the same voice which said, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters" (Isa 55: 1). When Christ says, "Come unto me" (Matt. 11-28), it is the same voice which spake long before, saying, "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I AM GOD, and there is none else" (Isa 45:22). When Christ says, "Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for I AM" (John 13:13). It is the same One who said so many times, "I AM THE LORD; and beside me there is no Saviour" (Isa 43:11). Mary knew his voice at the tomb , "Master." John knew the voice of the One on shore, "It is the Lord." Yea, all his sheep know his voice; it is distinct from all others. It is the voice of the Creator, the voice of the King, the voice of the Lord their God. There is no mistaking it; no disguising it and no doubt about it ... the voice of Christ is the voice of God; the voice of the Lord our Shepherd.

Yes, experts have discovered what poor sinners have known all along. Every voice has a clear pattern which distinguishes it from all others ... especially the voice of the Lord.
