Our love to God is but our answer to His love for us. If someone loves God, the only source for that love is God's love to that person. Therefore, none can boast in his love for God. But there is wonderful comfort in this: if I do love God, it must be that HE LOVES ME! That is, while my love to God is not the cause of God's love to me, it is a proof of God's love for me. The very scriptures which take away the vain boasts of men provide the meek with comfort and confidence.
