FAITH BOWS TO THE WORD OF GOD

Don Fortner

Most people are anxious to tell what they know, or think they know, and what they think, and very slow to hear what God says. They weigh the Word of God in the balance with their own reason, religious tradition, experience and personal feeling. They dare to set themselves up as judges of the eternal God. Even in the house of public worship man tries to be the god of God!

I say plainly, no man will ever hear from God, worship God, or know God, until he bows to the authority of God's Word with a meek, teachable, believing spirit. Like young Samuel, our hearts attitude must be, "Speak, Lord, thy servant heareth thee." When we go to the house of God to hear a man preach the gospel, if we would profit by what we hear, we must be willing to have our faults exposed, take the rebuke and reproof of Holy Scripture, conform to the requirements of the Word, receive any doctrine taught in the Bible and forsake any doctrine, tradition, or practice not taught in the Word of God.
