A PROVERB OF SOLOMON
Proverbs 14:7

Jesse Gistand

What a wise word from the king to a wise man. I was informed by a young man recently, that he, having attended a conference a short while ago, was disappointed at what he heard. Is this not sadly the case so often. As the sweeping rain that leaves no meat, saith the preacher.

And after the conference as he communed or rather talked with others about the freedom that GOD’S people have in Christ, How that we are justified freely by the blood of Jesus Christ and are dead to the law, married to Christ. No more threat, no more guilt, no more yoke, no more endless ritualism and legal bondage to a religion that does not save. Christ is now become everything to him. Sounds like he should have preached the conference.

He was met with constant opposition and gainsaying against this freedom which out of his joy was compelled to share. He felt bad that as he tried responding to their if ands and buts, he could not convince them of the truth of the Gospel. How do you respond to those who will not submit to GOD’S righteousness? After that you have told them that we are no longer under the law but under grace.

After you have told them that Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes. After you have told them, cursed is every man that continueth not in all things whatsoever the sayeth to do. After you have told them that the law worketh wrath upon the sinner. After you have told them that no man can or has kept the law, saving Christ, and that to tell someone that you keep it, makes GOD a liar, who said there is none righteous, especially you who feign attempt to keep the outer precepts of the law.

John 17:19 “Did not Moses give you the law, and [yet] none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?”. Acts 7:53 “Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept [it].” Gal 6:13 “For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh".

After you have told them that to suggest that sinners can keep the law, how be it imperfectly, is to bring the standard of divine holiness down to mans opinion of righteousness, to diminish the glory of Christ active obedience, to make of none effect the grace of GOD in Christ, to deny the complete efficacy of the crucifixion, to do dispite to the Spirit of grace, to trod under foot the precious blood of the Son of GOD.

After you have told them that law keeping is not only impossible, for you, but being not of faith is another gospel, and is worthy of GOD’S Anathema.

After you have told them that faith which worketh by love alone can produce the fruits of righteousness by Jesus Christ, As a wise reprover upon an obedient ear, LISTEN to the PREACHER.

Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.
