The words "savior, saved and salvation" are commonly used in our day. But the "savior" and the "salvation" they speak of is quite different from that which we read of in the Bible. Jude and Paul both refer to "God our Savior." There is no salvation apart from "God our Savior" and no salvation but that salvation which Jonah said was "of the Lord." The God of eternal salvation is the Triune God we read of in scripture who has engaged Himself in the Triunity of His sacred Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in saving "his people from their sins." God the Father is said to have "chosen us to salvation." His will, love and decrees are so sure it says that "he hath saved us…" There is no salvation that is not rooted in the Father's love, initiated in the Father's choice of election and determined by the Father's predestination. The same is true of God the Son. He alone is the only Savior of the world. There is no salvation apart from Him, in addition to Him or before Him. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." We are "saved from wrath through Him." "Saved by His life." Saved from sin by the Savior of sinners who "by himself purged our sins, made an end of sin and died as the sacrifice for sin before the law and justice of God. Then also, we are saved by God the Spirit. Paul wrote, "the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;" God the Spirit makes manifest the Father's choice and applies the benefits of the Son's sacrifice. He must reveal Christ in us, give us spiritual life and understanding by a new birth from above. He must give the gift of faith if we're to be saved through faith and He does. God is our Savior!
