Is the possession of riches evil? Will God someday judge a man for having riches in this life? This is what most people misinterpret the scriptures to say when God's Word does not say that at all. Thank God it is not true, for then nearly everyone of us would be in danger of the judgment (we live better than kings of old). Riches are definitely "deceitful" (not giving what they promise), and riches "bring a snare"(making one captive to the pursuit of more). But the judgment of riches is not the riches themselves ("there is nothing unclean of itself," Rom. 14:14). The judgment of riches will be the "RUST" of riches. James said the "rust" of a man's riches will judge him (James 5:3). The non-use of a man's material goods will someday "witness against him." Any man who hordes his wealth and does not spend it upon or share it with others will be judged by it. Anyone who lavishes everything on himself and never uses it for the good of others will be found guilty before God. How much or how little you have does not matter; what does matter is HOW YOU USE IT. If you live in a shack and do not entertain God's people in it, yet the man with a mansion uses it to feed and house the saints, the rust of your possessions (though meager) will judge you while the other man is commended. Think about it; and use what you have, whether great or small, for the benefit of others. OR ELSE THE RUST OF YOUR RICHES WILL JUDGE YOU!
