A person will value the gospel of the Lord Jesus when he has an understanding of these four things.
(1). The true character of God. Is God infinitely holy andjust or is He too good, kind and loving to send anyone to hell? See (Ex. 34:7; Psalm 7. 1 1; Jn 3:36)
(2). An understanding of his sin: Is his sin against God or are they merely the shortcomings of a basically good and sincere person? Does he become a sinner when he sins or does he sin because he is a sinner? See (Psalm 51:4-5; Romans 3:23; 5.12). (3). His own condition: Does he have the will, strength and ability to please God or is he dead in sin and hopelessly lost? See (Romans 3.20, Gal. 2.16; Eph. 2.1-3, 12).
(3). His own condition: Does he have the will, strength and ability to please God or is he dead in sin and hopelessly lost? See (Romans 3:20; Gal. 2:16; Eph. 2:1-3, 12).
(4). The glory and majesty of the person of the Lord Jesus Christ and the efficacy of His work: Did He die merely as a good moral man with good intentions, an example, a martyr; or, did He die as God incarnate, the appointed Sacrifice, God's remedy for sin? See (Jn. 1:1, 14,29; Acts 20.28; Heb. 9:12; 2 Peter 1:1).
