CHRIST CAME FOR SINNERS

Heshimu Colar

Do you want forgiveness without cleansing? Do you want freedom from the guilt of your transgression, and yet be allowed to continue in it? Then Christ came for someone just like you. Your desire to be forgiven without bowing the knee to Christ reveals that you are a real sinner. In the Epistles, I find no harsher language that what Second Peter and Jude use to condemn everyone that turns the grace of God into license for sin. There is no viler creature on planet earth than the one that wants to use the blood of Christ to excuse rebellion. Yet, come to Christ because of your sin, and you shall be forgiven. Behold, He says that He is come "… to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind… to preach the acceptable year of the Lord (Luke 4:18-19)". You shall be forgiven with the forgiveness that cleanses.

You say, 'But I do not want Christ.' Then come to Him acknowledging that. You say, 'But I will not come to Christ.' But, you must come. You may not be interested in the glory of God, but no man ever hated his own flesh. The consequences of your rebellion are too much for you to bear. You can't endure hell. Your peace, your pleasure, and the lusts of your flesh will be unattainable. Hell is a place torments (plural), "And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments…" Hell is a place that God has prepared for them that hate Him– "And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face (Deut. 7:10)." Hell is a place that God has prepared for His enemies, "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." Hell is the place God has prepared to show eternal worlds the hatred of His fury. You must escape the wrath to come.

Christ is enthroned to give recovery of sight to the blind. You once had great thoughts of God in your father Adam. You knew His goodness. The only reason that you love evil now is that you're blinded by sin. But, when forgiveness gives you a new understanding and you see the Lord God as He really is, then you'll understand why His saints adore Him. The evil that you love and the righteousness that you hate will be reversed. You'll receive a new nature and a new attitude. No, you cannot see on your side. You're blind. You can only see when you've come to Christ.

Everyone that comes to Christ comes because of the remission of sins. I don't repent to earn remission; I repent believing that remission has already been made (II Cor. 5:18-21). This is why there is no repentance without the message of Christ's shed blood. Before the Risen Lord sent the apostles to preach the remission of sins, He showed them what He accomplished in His death and resurrection saying, "… Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem (Luke 24:46-47)." O! Starting with the worst of the worst and the very murderers of the Son of God, preach that God has already dealt justly with sin-- He lifted up His Son between heaven and earth and punished Him to death in the cross. Remission is not the hiding of our sin; it is the removal of sin through the shedding of Christ's blood. Now, we're are able to come to God, as we are, acknowledging Him for who He is, because there is absolute and certain forgiveness… a forgiveness that needs none of my repentance. (Ps. 130:3-4) "If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared."

Just as Abraham fled from his place of idolatry, flee to Christ. And, flee on the exact same grounds as Abraham–God called him when he was in his sin and promised him goodness (Gen. 12:1-5).
