Divine providence is a blessed doctrine which says that God controls and directs everything to its appointed end for the glory of His Name and the welfare of His elect in order to fulfill His eternal purpose. His holy, wise, and good providence gives confidence, comfort, and contentment to us as we make our pilgrimage to our final home. Our heavenly Father governs all things, therefore, we may be sure that He will allow nothing to come to pass except those things which will "work together for our good." If we did not believe this glorious truth, how could we ever have any comfort in this world? How could we rely upon God to make good on His promises to us if He did not manage all things? How could we bear up under the toils of life if we had no assured confidence that out Father is the all-powerful Administrator of the universe, ruling and reigning for the welfare of His own?
As sinners who rest in the Lord, we want no more or less of either good or bad, prosperity or need, health or sickness, than what God gives because we know He gives what is best.
