If there is a strict adherence to a code of conduct with regard to human dignitaries, how much more should we be concerned with our conduct in the worship of our infinitely holy God? If we would not allow ourselves to insult fleshly dignitaries by being late, dare we insult or put off our God by coming to the public worship late? Is He not important enough? Is He not high enough, or powerful enough to warrant our best conduct, our best efforts, our best time?
One would dress for the occasion (and count it a privilege) to be in the presence of our President. How much more should we be concerned with the way we dress our bodies for the public worship of our God? (Read I Tim. 2:9-10). We are not to dress as if we were going to a ball game, or other fleshly activity. How we should consider with WHOM WE HAVE TO DO!
Another thing, one would not dare go to sleep, or be inattentive to a dignitary such as the President, for it would be considered the height of impudence and rudeness. Yet, our God is often treated with less respect and honor than we give the people we associate with in the everyday world. Beloved, these things ought not to be!
