SUMMARY NOTES ON JEREMIAH 33:1-14
Jeremiah 33:1-14

Jim Byrd

These verses continue the theme of the previous chapter: God's grace to the undeserving. Though the Lord's chosen people have sinned against Him, they will all be saved by free and sovereign grace. This glorious truth is illustrated by the promise of Judah's return from captivity to their homeland.

1. The Purpose of the Lord, verses 1-3. Jeremiah is commanded to pray for spiritual blessings, which prayer would be answered for the Lord had already decreed all spiritual blessings for His people in Christ.

2. The Pardon of Sin, verses 4-8. The Lord will heal His people of their spiritual diseases and pardon all their transgressions through the substitutionary sacrifice of Christ.

3. The Praise of God, verses 9-11. All that the Lord will do for His people will result in the exaltation of His Name and the everlasting joy of His people.

4. The Preaching of the Gospel, verses 12-14. The Lord promised to save His people from their sins. This will be accomplished by the preaching of the gospel by His faithful servants.

"I will praise Thee, O LORD, with my whole heart;
I will shew forth all Thy marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in Thee:
I will sing praise to Thy name,
O Thou most High" (Psalm 9:1-2).
