For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation.–Romans 1:16

There may be many who are ashamed of their religion, but no believer in the gospel of Christ has any reason to be ashamed. It is the gospel of Christ! It is the good news that God has sent a Person to be a perfect Prophet to reveal God to us, a perfect Priest to represent us to God, and a perfect King to sovereignly rule all things for the good of His people. He has, by His life and death, fulfilled all our responsibilities under the law and thus set us free from its jurisdiction. The gospel of Christ is no small thing, no weak message founded upon the works and responses of sinful men. It is the good news about Christ. Unless we can find a reason to be ashamed of Christ and His work, we have no reason to be ashamed of His gospel But that is not all: this gospel is the power of God unto salvation. In no way does this gospel depend on the power of man, either in works or decisions. It saves by the power of God and is, therefore, completely successful. What gospel could be better than one that works by the power of God? The gospel of Christ actually saves sinners, as they are, requiring no improvement on their part in order to partake of the heavenly grace. Moreover, and more importantly, this gospel does not require God to lower his standards, or alter His character in the least. Let unbelievers mock, let legalists condemn, let free-willers rage, we who believe this gospel are not ashamed by their ridicule, for we are not ashamed of our God, or His Christ, or His gospel!
