Are you like me? I mean by that question, do you want everything NOW? Of course you do! Do something, get on with it, make something happen, hurry it along, times-a-wastin'! Thus we live our lives.
Now slothfulness IS a sin, but waiting is of God. If I plead anything, it is the sin of sloth, not the virture of waiting. I read of the waiting God, "Therefore will the Lord wait, that He may be gracious to you" (Isa.30:18). It is astounding that the Almighty would wait until one of His creatures learned to wait. I don't understand this, but there it is. God's purpose is right on time, but He does wait in order to be gracious.
Men show no interest and fall away from the gospel. Those in whom you put confidence are rarely seen. The worship is a sleepy-eyes business, and interest wanes to the point of excruciating deadness. Where is the Lord? He's waiting that He may be gracious unto you. BE HAPPY AND WAIT ON HIM. Preach the gospel of a redeeming Savior, and do what you know while you wait. "Thine ears shall hear a word behind thee saying, this is the way, walk ye in it" (Verse 21).
Walk in Christ, for He is the way. Know nothing but Christ and Him crucified. "Then shall He give the rain of thy seed, that thou shall be fat and prosperous" (Verse 23). Sow the seed of the precious blood of Christ and remember that He WAITS that He may be gracious to you.
