WE'RE BLESSED WITH ALL SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN CHRIST
Eph 1:3-6

Heshimu Colar

All spiritual blessings are IN Christ, and God has simply BLESSED us with them. God came to Abraham when He was in idolatry and simply BLESSED him. God did not tell Abraham that He would bless him if he met certain conditions. He commanded Abraham to depart from his father's land and promised that He would bless him (Gen 12:1-5). Even so, God our blessed Father has chosen to bless us FREELY. He looked upon us in Christ and determined that He would have an innumerable multitude of chosen people made just like His Son (Rom 8:28-30). This might be called gospel multiplication. Since the One Man, the Lord Jesus Christ, took all our sins, He is justified to give the innumerable multitude His righteousness. God gave His one unique and only begotten Son, and He has received His Son from the dead with all of His elect children.

Therefore, when He looked upon us in Christ as justified and righteous, He blessed us with everything (righteousness, forgiveness, grace, mercy, pardon, strength, peace, joy, hope, consecration, prayer, faith, power, the Holy Spirit, everything). Every blessing that you receive is the result of that One Son. Jesus Christ has made you accepted in the Beloved (Eph 1:6). This means that every claim of justice is satisfied, and the law of God has nothing to say to you but "Accepted". Let Satan rage and accuse us of things undone, but let every believer flee to the Son and declare what God declares to be true, "Accepted in the Beloved". Christ is the end of the law, which means that the law has no more to say to us; He is the fulfillment of it and the perfection of all that it requires. Paul writes to the Colossians in chapter 2 and declares that we are "complete in him". Complete in whom? We are complete in Him who is the Head over all. He has so honored the law of God-- so highly magnified and exalted its requirements– that God our Father has raised Him from the dead as Lord over all. He's been given indescribable dominion for all eternity, and everything that ever shall be is subject to Him according to the appointment and good pleasure of His Father-(Col 2:9-10) "For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power." (Eph 1:20-21) "And [God the Father] hath put all things under [Christ's] feet, and gave him the head over all to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all."

Therefore, possessing this righteousness of Jesus Christ our Lord, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart… (Prov 3:5)." How can a still sinful man trust in the Lord? You have been punished already, and God Almighty deals with you through His Son. He does not deal with us after our sins (Ps 103:10); He deals with us through a Mediator who has satisfied Him on our behalf. Secondly, "… and lean not unto thine own understanding (Prov 3:5)." Don't trust what you're thinking; trust the Word. Don't despair when you don't know what or why God is doing; simply know and trust that God your blessed Savior is doing all things. Next, "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths (Prov 3:6)." Don't do anything in disobedience to His Word. Bring your plans, dreams, and ambitious to the Lord, and lay everything before His Word. If you lack wisdom, ask Him (James 1:2-5). He will show you the path to take– not by feelings but by Scripture– and the path that He shows will be best. Finally, (Prov 3:7) "Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the Lord, and depart from evil." Fearing the Lord and departing from evil is the same thing. Those who tremble at His word are those who desire to hear what He has to say, and they obtain grace to follow Him (Is 66:1-2).
