The blessed truth of God's sovereignty arouses the two strongest emotions in man. When the doctrine of the sovereignty of God is declared as it is set forth in the Bible men either love it or hate it. There is no middle ground. There is no middle view. God is either absolutely sovereign or He is not sovereign at all. The meaning of the word "sovereign" allows, no degrees of power or authority. Since Adam expressed his desire to be like God and rebelled against God's authority over him, all men by fallen nature hate the Sovereign God. Since man could not be as God, man has invented himself a god to be as himself - IMPOTENT! Christians love the sovereign God. He is our God, and we are His people. We as equally hate the imaginary god of false religion. To love the ONE is to hate the other. To hate the ONE is to love the other. We who know the TRUE and LIVING GOD believe HIM, bow to HIM, and worship HIM upon the THRONE of HIS GLORY. We believe His declaration in Isaiah 46: 9-11, "Remember the former things of old – for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.– Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from afar country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass, I have purposed it, I will also do it." To not believe in the sovereign God of the Bible is the heart of idolatry. "The workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces" Hosea 8:6.
