The written Word of God is of infinitely more worth than any other tangible possession men and women may obtain. Therefore, the Apostle Peter tells us, concerning the Word of God, "Ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place" (II Peter 1:15-21). It is the Word of God alone "which is able to make one wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus" (II Tim. 3:14-16). Without the pure light of the Word of God, men and women can never spiritually and savingly know the only true and living God, nor their own exceeding sinfulness and desperate need, nor the precious Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Oh, how God's book should be valued, prayerfully studied, heartily heard, and honestly and sincerely revered! He who reveres not the Word of God, reveres not the God of the Word! He who reveres not God and His Word, to be honest about the matter, cares not for his own soul. God has no spiritual and saving blessing for anyone apart from His precious Word. That faith which justifies and saves the soul comes through the Word of God. And no man can grow in grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ apart from God's Word. WHAT A PRECIOUS BOOK!!!
When all the redeemed of the Lord are assembled in glory with their great Redeemer, perfected and glorified forever, the only visible evidence of the consequences of sin WILL BE SEEN ON THE REEDEEMER HIMSELF! The wounds were inflicted upon Him when he delivered Himself to be crucified as the Substitute for sinners, to suffer "the just one for the unjust" that He might bring them to God. What an eternal reminder that it is "By His stripes they are healed!" What amazing love and grace! What an amazing Redeemer-God!
