STRANGERS IN ZION
Joel 3:17

Jack Shanks

"... there shall no strangers pass through her anymore."

Why do many not enjoy being in the presence of the church in its times of meeting together for worship? The only answer is that they are strangers who pass through with no understanding of the heart worship of those who are vitally united to the blessed Redeemer. Our God dwells among us, "I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain."

Some people assemble with the knowledge of His presence, while others "go to church." The day is coming when "Jerusalem will be holy, and there shall no stranger pass through her any more."

Our hearts should go out to these "strangers", for We ourselves were as they. "Ye were without Christ, and strangers from the covenants of promise" (Eph. 2:12). Would it not be a wondrous thing to have these strangers know our Lord so it could be said of them as we "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God"? (Eph. 2:19). It would indeed be a miracle of God to see them in Christ as we. "Jesus Christ himself... in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." (Eph. 2:20, 22).

"Goin' to church" will be a thing of the past, for "there shall no strangers pass through her any more." We must do all we can to put forth the glorious gospel of our Savior to those who do not understand. Perhaps in God's good pleasure some of those "strangers" will be found in His grace before the door is closed to them forever. Thank His holy Name I was brought in by the blessed Spirit.

'There shall no strangers pass through her any more.'
