Our Church has just been privileged to have men visit us who have beautiful feet. Their feet are described in Romans 10 and Isaiah 52. The beauty of their feet is not in those appendages that have ten toes, but in the use of them. What did they do with those feet? These men walked in our midst and preached the gospel of peace. Their message to us was the Lord Jesus Christ "For he is our peace" (Eph. 2:14). The more they spoke of Him, the more my heart lived in peace.
Thank you, our friends, for preaching the gospel of peace.
Then they brought "glad tidings of good things" by speaking of justification in the blood of Christ and sanctification because of His holy life. We were told of the moment we would behold Him in righteousness and be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. The last message was of our union with Him. As they told us "good things" we saw the great glory of the infinite, awesome God. Never have we heard the Lord in such great magnitude as He was presented to us. We bowed in our hearts, yet these brethren knew they only scratched the surface of His grandeur.
These preachers of the gospel of peace did not argue theology nor attempt to "straighten out" anyone, nor try to prove that the church is only a 'local church." Nor did they describe all the beasts in the Book of Daniel or Revelation, and "prove" who they are and when they will appear.
To sum it all up, our God greatly blessed His church with the voices of men who truly had seen His glory in the face of Jesus Christ. We are the better for it. We have a greater reverence for God Almighty, and a much more profound sense of the grace of God as it is in the blood-shedding of the Redeemer. May our Lord grant that we never have to suffer through listening to anything other than these tremendous truths of the effectual Christ, the only atonement for sin. How could we listen to anything else? We could not, for many preachers have "ugly" feet.
