"If any man lack wisdom, let Him ask of God" (James 1:5). Wisdom is more than knowledge, information, and learning. A man may have all these and be a fool. Wisdom is the proper combination of truth and spirit, faith and conduct, mind and heart. Wisdom is knowing the will of God and yielding to it. Wisdom is discernment of heart and discipline of mouth. Wisdom is knowing the precious gospel of Christ and walking with Him in the face of opposition from within and without, regardless of frowns or flatteries of friends or faces! We need wisdom to receive from the hand of God whatever lot He is pleased to give us and reckon it to be right, bear it patiently; and not be lifted up too much in prosperity nor castdown too much in distress, but to consider both the plenty and the lack will work together for our good. If this is what a man wants, let him not go to the books and experiences of men; let him "ask of God"' But do not bother to ask the Lord for directions if you have not CERTAIN plans to follow them.
