For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. I Cor. 2:2
Our church had the rare privilege of having four preachers of the gospel speak to us for four days. I say preachers of the gospel, because that is all they preached: Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Many men are called preachers of the gospel who very seldom get even close to the gospel. All green-heads in this day fancy themselves as "preachers," and seem to know everything except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
The men who were here were DETERMINED. Whether they spoke from the Old Testament or the New, the message was the same. The Lord Jesus Christ is the entire message of both. In the Old Testament He is the Brazen Serpent, the Ark, the Passover, the Lamb on the Day of Atonement, the Rock, the High Priest, the True Manna, the Ram of Consecration, the Blood Offering of Abel. Yes, He is the whole of that Testament. And certainly the New Testament is His coming, living a holy life, and dying a sacrificial death for all of God's chosen people.
These brethren who came to us did not befuddle our minds with the duties of religion or who the beasts represent in the Books of Daniel and Revelation.
Paul said in 1 Cor. 2:2 that whatever he was telling the church at Corinth, whether duty, or rebuke, or instruction in righteousness, then all is bound up in the precious sacrifice of God, our Lord Jesus Christ. Charles Spurgeon said, "Whatever subject I preach, I do not stop until I reach the Savior, the Lord Jesus, for in Him are all things."
Every heart was satisfied as our brethren spoke to us, because it seems that all in attendance beheld the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. To Him be glory forever. Thank you, men, for faithful, DETERMINED preaching. We greatly were blessed for all eternity, for we saw our Savior in His beauty as He endured our agony and the curse of God's broken law in our stead.
