Have you ever seen bumper stickers which read, "Let me tell you about my grandchildren?" or, "I have a child who is an honor student at ...?" Or have you ever been in someone's home who showed you a photo album that was completely filled with pictures of their child only? I don't suppose you have one of those stickers or albums do you? Fact is, all of us love, and are very proud of our children. And we enjoy bragging on them and telling others about them.
God Almighty has one "only begotten and well-beloved Son" whom He loves to brag about and tell others about. His Name is Jesus Christ. Unlike our children, God's Son is truly worth bragging about, for, He alone is Holy, Just and Righteous; He alone is spotless, pure and lovely; He alone is perfectly obedient to His Father; He alone is a "man approved of God"; He alone is worthy of all praise, adoration and honor. God's "Holy child, Jesus" is the apple of His eye , the love of His heart, the theme of His tongue, and from the very beginning, God has been "setting Him forth' for all to see; for all to behold His Son's glory!
The angels, cherubims and seraphims beheld the personal glory of the Son of God when He was with the Father in the beginning. They beheld His creative glory when "all things were made by Him." They beheld His Redemptive glory when He became a man, to redeem men from the curse of the law. Those mysterious beings were created for the express purpose of beholding God's Son and serving Him. And so are we!
The Bible is, as it were, God's photo album of His well-beloved Son. It is full from cover to cover with nothing but pictures, types, symbols and stories of Jesus Christ; that men might behold His glory, learn of Him, know Him and trust Him.
Have you seen God's Son in the Book? Ah, what glorious pictures of Christ are to be found in God's Word! Salvation is to be given the privilege, by God, of beholding HIS SON.
