I suppose every prisoner wants to be friends with the jailer who holds the keys of his cell. Why? Well, that jailer represents freedom, authority and privilege. If ever that prisoner is to be released from his cell the one who holds the keys must open the door to his freedom.
Christ says in Revelation that He is the One who holds “THE KEYS OF HELL AND OF DEATH”. What a privilege it is to be friends with this One who holds the keys to our freedom. The jailer might not have the authority to release the prisoner but Christ has all authority to set the captive free. He paid the penalty in full for the crimes of His sheep. God’s justice has been satisfied. Atonement has been made. The law has been honored and fulfilled. An acceptable sacrifice has been offered up. Hallelujah, what a Saviour! Christ is the only hope for sinners for He is the One who holds the keys to their liberty from death and condemnation.
Are you friends with the One who holds the keys of hell and death? This great Saviour says “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God and there is none else.” Deliverance from bondage to sin and death is only found in the One who gave His life a ransom for His sheep. If you believe and trust the Lord Jesus Christ, you are a friend of the One who holds “the keys of hell and and of death.”
