Worship is a special time for God’s people. Why is it special? It is special because it is for a special people. It is for those who were chosen from before the foundation of the world by the Father. It is for those for whom Christ came to redeem and save by His almighty grace. It is for those who were called by the Holy Spirit and give life and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is for those who believe and trust Christ. It is for those who desire to give credit where it is due in this great work of salvation and that is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Secondly, it is special because of the One in whom we worship. Though there are many "christs" being preached in the day in which we live, there is only one true God in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ as He is revealed in Scripture. God’s elect desire to be where the Christ of Holy Scripture is being preached and worshipped. This Christ is not like any other "christ". The true Christ is indeed God. He came to the earth as the God-Man and everything He did He did victoriously. He died as a Substitute for His chosen people. He did not die in vain for anyone but rather He died victoriously for His people. There is nobody in hell for whom He died or else He would have been a failure. Each and every person for whom Christ died will be called by the Spirit and given life and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This One in whom we worship is not like most "gods’ that people worship today. This Christ is special for there is none like unto him and He does exactly as He so pleases. This Christ is special because He is the all Sovereign God of the universe.
