CHURCH MEMBERSHIP - HOME OR HOTEL
Acts 2:41-47

Milton Howard

This matter of church membership is often seriously abused. The word CHURCH is assembly, and the word MEMBERSHIP is to be a part of that assembly. It is more than having your name on a church roll. Some have their names on a church roll for family's sake, some for tradition's sake, and some for denomination's sake. Many of these never support the church. It is not New Testament Membership to have your name in one place, and to attend in another. Some have their name on the roll and do not attend for months at a time. No one ever hears from them. Then one day they just show up.

Read Acts 2:41-47 and notice the words "added unto them," "continued stedfastly," "together," common," "one accord," "singleness of heart," and "the church."

Church Membership is an assembly of blood bought, baptized believers, supporting a local church with your presence, prayers, and financial support. If you are going to have your name on a church roll, get behind that church. Make it your Home, the place where you constantly come, not a Hotel you stop off in occasionally when you come through town.
