The source of all grace is God. Salvation, one part of God’s grace, is also God's work, from start to finish. The Bible clearly states this fact. Sad to say, most religious people today believe that God is sovereign over everything except salvation. This is not only a denial of the rest of this verse and all of Scripture but an attack on the very person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Read Psalm 65:4 as well as 110:3 and see how God is sovereign in this matter of salvation! In these verses we see how the Father planned salvation, how He chose who will come to Him, and how He causes them by His irresistible grace to indeed do so. All of Scripture consistently declares these facts, how that Christ came to this earth "to save His people from their sin" (Matt.1:21) and how that He effectually redeemed them, preserves them, and will one day usher them into the very presence of Almighty God. When God says that all things are of Him, that is exactly what He means. The salvation of a sinner is
not prompted nor initiated by the will of man but of God. A sinner will never come to Christ by His own will. God must cause Him to come to Him! Man left to his own will, will be religious, but remain lost in his religion until God searches him out and causes him to approach unto Him by regenerating his soul.
Most religious people believe that God is in control of everything except man's will. Oh, no. If God leaves you to your imaginary "free will," you will go out of this world just like you came in, lost, dead, doomed, without Christ, without God, without hope. But, thank God, salvation does not depend on your will or mine! Salvation is accomplished by God's will! (Romans 9:16)
