I am going to talk to you today about the facts of life. We are all men and women who love life. God has placed within each of us a natural love of life, We want "the good life". We all strive after the best things in life, Medical science devotes itself to prolonging life and preserving life. But there are very few people who understand the most self-evident facts of life. Today, I want to share with you four facts of life. I trust that: God the Holy Spirit will cause these four facts of life to find lodging in your heart.
1. WE ALL LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE ALL THINGS ARE TEMPORAl. AND PASSING AWAY.
PauI said, we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal" (II Cor, 6:18). This thought ought to arouse the consciences of all men, Everything you see a round you is temporary, It is all passing away. Your business, your wealth, your health, your wife, your children, your home, all of those things for which men are living in this world are temporal. To live only for this world is to live as a fool. THIS WORLD IS PASSING AWAY! This same thought should cheer and comfort the heart of every true believer, Your trials, your afflictions, your temptations, and your spiritual conflicts are temporal. They will soon come to an end. They will soon pass away. Take them patiently. Bear them quietly, Even now they are working for you "a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory" (II Cor, 4:17). The cross will soon be exchanged for a crown.
2. WE ARE ALL GOING TOWARDS A WORLD WHERE ALL THINGS ARE ETERNAL.
That great unseen state of existence which lies beyond the grave is eternal. Whether it is happy or miserable, whether it is a condition of joy or of sorrow, it is eternal. Annihilation is a foolish dream, You are an imortal soul. You will live forever, either in the eternal bliss of heaven or in the eternal torments of hell. Whatever there is for you beyond the grave, when the last trump has sounded, when the dead are raised, will be endless, everlasting, and eternal. "The things which are not seen are eternal." The future happiness and bliss of those who are saved by the blood of Christ is eternal, Heaven is a real, everlisting place of bliss. The future misery and torment of those who are not saved is eternal. Hell is a real, everlasting place of torment.
3. OUR STATE AND CONDITION IN THE UNSEEN WORLD OF ETERNITY MUST BE DETERMINED WHILE WE LIVE IN THIS WORLD.
As I live, So shall, I die, and so shall I be eternally. If I live in faith, I will die in faith, and I will live again in the presence of Christ forever, If I live in Christ, I will die in Christ, and I will be with Christ eternally in heaven. If I live in unbelief, I will die in unbelief, and I will suffer the eternal torments of unbelief in hell, If I live without Christ, I will die without Christ, and I will be without Christ eternally in hell, "As a tree falls, there shall it lie," Take heed, my friends, trust Christ this day. Come to him now in faith; and you shall come to him when you die, Despise him now; and you shall be despised by him eternally.
4. THE LORD JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN PREPARE US FOR THE UNSEEN WORLD OF ETERNITY.
Christ alone can wash away your sins. Christ alone can make you righteous. Christ alone can make you accepted with the Father. Christ alone can save you. Christ alone can bring you to heaven. He Is able, willing, and ready to save all who come to God by him. The terms of life are simple, clear, and free - "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved" (Acts 16:31).
