A we look forward to the coming of the new year, let us soberly reflect upon our past, acknowledging our sin and rejoicing in God's free and absolute forgiveness of all our sins by the precious blood of Christ. Let us observe and adore God's adorable, all-wise, ever good providence. And let us commit to him the days yet allotted to us in this world by his hand, ever numbering our days and applying our hearts to Christ (Wisdom). The only path to a happy new year (a happy life) is to live for Christ, by Christ, and with Christ in the immediate prospect of eternity.
