TO HIM WILL I GIVE
Josh 15:16

Heshimu Colar

"And Caleb said, He that smites Kirjathsepher, and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife."– Josh 15:16

The righteous are rewarded for obedience. Caleb said, "He that smites Kirjathsepeher… to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife", so that the conqueror received an inheritance. The inheritance is by lot (predestining love), and the inheritance, like Christ's kingdom, is taken by force (Rom 5:17). He that takes hold of the promises and believes unto eternal life, receives the blessings thereof. So that we're active in our obedience, even as we RECEIVE the Lord Jesus and the benefits in Him.

In John 9, the Master asks, "Do you believe on the Son of God", and the believer responded eventually, "Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him", and worshipping Christ is believing yourself. He didn't say, "You gave me faith", though that is true. And, he didn't say, "It is your faith, Lord". He said, "I believe", and though God gives it, we BELIEVE also.

You and I will come to Christ, for we have been called to Him. And, we will believe. Election guarantees the result (II Thess 2:13).

Yet, the result will take place. We will believe, repent, and love, as is commanded us. We will believe amidst trials, love amidst enemies, and conquer adversities by faith in Christ. God will do whatever it takes, even giving grace to humble us, so that we can believe God. He won't ordain the means of salvation and then forget to bring it to pass. He will not start a house, and then not finish, having too little strength to give eternal life to whom He has ordained. Instead, we will trust Him, and He will deliver us – giving us the blessing (like Caleb's daughter to wife) that He promises. Here, Caleb pictures our Savior, and He reveals what He gives to those that obey Him, those that exalt and honor Him. We get the goodness of FORGIVENESS, if we believe. We get peace amidst the storm, if we believe. And, we get the inheritance, if we seek the inheritance by faith.

Truly, God will give us CONTENTMENT and happiness in His will, if we seek it. He has not made promises and then refused to tell us how they can be had. It is the labor of the foolish, says Solomon, because he knows not how to go to the city", so that many want blessings and have no idea how they're obtained. Christ died and earned, and He gives to us freely by faith. Christ did the work and will continue to do everything for us, and all that we do is believe the gospel amidst the temptation to doubt. We believe the blood of Christ when sin is raging, and then we find the blood enough to cleanse the conscience, satisfy God, and bring peace and joy to us. We will have power, if we do what He says. And, you and I now clearly know what is commanded us, even faith in Christ in spite of the flesh, the world, and the obstacles that will come. Paul said, "Those things, which you have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do, and the God of peace shall be with you" (Phil 4:9).
