"Why hath the Lord done thus?" We cry,
When we are pressed with care,
When tempest tossed and sorely vexed,
With trials, pain, and fear.
"Why hath the Lord done thus?" We know
He always does what's best!
Spirit of God, give grace and faith,
That we may here find rest.
"Why hath the Lord done thus?" It is
To glorify His name,
To save His own elect and give
His saints eternal gain.
"Why hath the Lord done thus?" We bow!
We'll wait upon our God.
Not our will, Lord, Your will be done,
For all Your will is good!
