The rules of men are simply that,
Forbidding joy in Christ;
The gospel of His saving love
is joy and bounding life.
The gospel saves and makes us clean
Forbidding us to sin;
The rules of man clean up the garb
And keep us slaves within.
When taught of God to love because
His love is over you;
You're taught the way of happiness
And He will help you too.
But liberty is given free
It never can be earned;
It is in love He teaches us,
What I would never learn.
That Christ has died and I am loved
Is hope unto my soul;
I fall but He lifts me again
So I can love also.
